“The General Council”

The duties of the General Council are:

(a)    core membership services, insurance, legal advice and administration
(b)    maintaining technical rules, procedures and policies,  and monitoring compliance
(c)    information services, website, literature, handbook, magazines, videos, annual reports
(d)    public relations, media coverage and related income

 

BWLA

 

(e)    schools (and other key sectors) development
(f)    running national championships, leagues and schemes, and keeping lifting records
(g)    maintaining a national coaching system and developing coaches
(h)    maintaining a technical support system and developing referees, officials and organisers
(i)    selecting, coaching and managing national squads and international teams
(j)    maintaining a framework for regional and local championships, squads and activities
(k)    merchandising, badges, equipment, barbells, books, consultancy

It is proposed to form the following committees:
•    Weightlifting Steering Group (to include sub committees for technical, coaching, development, coach education, championships).
•    British Disabled Lifters’ Association (to include sub committees for technical, coaching, development, coach education, championships).
•    All Round Lifting
•    Home Office Services
•    Anti Doping Committee
•    Child Protection Group
•    Equality Steering Group
