United Kingdom Anti Doping Organisation.
Message from Andy Parkinson, Chief Executive.
I am writing to inform you about a new UK Anti-Doping initiative to be launched on 2 June 2010.
One of the intended benefits of the creation of UK Anti-Doping was to provide a greater ability to gather intelligence about the trafficking and supply of doping substances. Intelligence comes from a number of difference sources but we know that much of it comes from within the sporting community.
In order to tap more effectively into the information that is out there we are a launching a confidential hotline called Report Doping in Sport. If anyone sees any suspicious activity or witnesses a doping violation, they can simply call the confidential line. It will be hosted by Crimestoppers who have an excellent reputation for handling calls of this nature and all information received through the line will be fed into the UK Anti-Doping intelligence team for analysis and investigation. Calls will be treated in confidence and callers will not need to disclose their personal details if they do not want to.
We believe that the launch of this line is a very positive development in the fight against doping in sport. We know that athletes can be exposed to doping and we want to assure them that we are doing everything we can to eliminate drug cheats and the support personnel that assist and sometime encourage them. To this end, we are very keen to inform athletes that there is a new and confidential way in which they can play their part to protect themselves and their sport.
The line will be launched at a media event on 2 June and will be supported by targeted communications activity. We plan to contact your communications team and anti-doping liaison to inform them of the new initiative and to ask for their assistance in promoting the existence of the Report Doping in Sport hotline within your sport.
