UK Invitational Bench Press Competition
The UK Invitational Bench Press Competition was hosted by the Federation for Disability Sport of Wales at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 23rd January 2010.

 Zoe NewsonTwenty four lifters took part. The best lifters in the women's competition were Natalie Blake and Zoe Newson. Zoe (pictured right) set a new European and British record with 80 kgs. In the men's competition, the best lifters were Anthony Peddle and Chris Rattenbury, although our guest lifter from the Netherlands; Patrique Dankers put up a good performance. The next major British Championships will be held at Stoke Mandeville on 5th June.

English Weightlifting Championships
The English Weightlifting Championships will be held on 20th February 2010 at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Near Newport, Shropshire. The full programme and fifty seven entries are attached below. The day will hopefully bring good competitions as the lifters prepare for the British Championships in June which will be the qualifying event for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

South West Weightlifting Championships
The South West Weightlifting Championships will be held on 13th February 2010 at the Empire Sport Club, Bristol. Andy and Wendy Sutor invite all participants looking for a friendly competiton.

Safeguarding Children and Young People
A new section has been added to the BWLA website - "Safeguarding Children and Young People". All procedures regarding Child Protection will be found in this website section. For those clubs, coaches, officials who teach U18's lifters you should consult these procedures on a regular basis.
