 BWLA AWARD FOR SPORT               LEVEL 2 WEIGHTLIFTING 

This award is designed for those who have completed the level 1 award for sport who wish to further their knowledge in strength and power development, utilising the two classical lifts, the two hands snatch and the two hands clean and jerk, assist exercises and programme development.


INTRODUCTION TO THE TWO HANDS SNATCH
Covering the mechanics of the movement, key positions during the execution of the lift. (Squat and split style)Theory – classroom

INTRODUCTION TO THE TWO HANDS CLEAN AND JERK
Covering the mechanics of the lift, key positions during the execution of the lift. (squat and split clean)Theory – classroom

THE TWO HANDS SNATCH
Coaches will be introduced to the snatch balance exercises, the pull, developing the full movement, squat and split style movements will be covered.Practical - weights room 

THE TWO HANDS CLEAN AND JERK
Coaches will be introduced to the jerk balance exercises, squat and split style cleans, the pull, developing to full movement.Practical – weights room

CLASS TEACHING
Tutor lead, coaches will be taken through teaching methods of the lifts.Practical – weights room

GROUP TEACHING
Within their own specific groups coaches will be giving various movements to teach.Practical – weights room

POWER ASSIST EXERCISES
These are important movements in power development in their own right.The Power Clean The Power Snatch The Snatch Pull The Clean Pull Practical – weights room

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
How to introduce the snatch and clean and jerk within a training programme, from balance exercises, power assist exercises, gradually developing into the full movements.Theory – classroom

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENTCoaches will be asked to demonstrate the Snatch and Clean Jerk.
THEORY PAPERWill cover aspects covered over the course. Not multi - choice.1½ hours.
